Mauritania Drone Flight: Mauritania, officially the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, is a country in Northwest Africa. It is the eleventh largest sovereign state in Africa and is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, Western Sahara to the north and northwest, Algeria to the northeast, Mali to the east and southeast, and Senegal to the southwest. The country derives its name from the ancient Berber kingdom of Mauretania, which existed from the 3rd century BCE into the 7th century CE in the far north of modern-day Morocco and Algeria. Approximately 90% of Mauritanias land is within the Sahara; consequently, the population is concentrated in the south, where precipitation is slightly higher. The capital and largest city is Nouakchott, located on the Atlantic coast, which is home to around one-third of the countrys 4.3 million people. The government was overthrown on 6 August 2008, in a military coup détat led by General Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz. Senegal Drone Flight: Senegal is a country on Africas west coast with a rich French colonial heritage and many natural attractions. Dakar, the capital, features the ancient Médina district and esteemed Musée Théodore Monod, displaying African art. Dakar is also known for its nightlife, centered on native mbalax music. Saint-Louis, formerly the capital of French West Africa, has an old town with colonial architecture. Car-free Gorée Island is home to the House of Slaves museum and memorial. Lake Retba is known for its curious pink-hued water. Running down the coast to the Saloum Delta National Park biosphere reserve is the Petite Côte strip of beach resorts, and to the south, the seaside retreat of Cap Skirring. Indonesia Drone Flight: Indonesia, a Southeast Asian nation made up of thousands of volcanic islands, is home to hundreds of ethnic groups speaking many different languages. Its known for beaches, volcanoes, Komodo dragons and jungles sheltering elephants, orangutans and tigers. On the island of Java lies Indonesias vibrant, sprawling capital, Jakarta, and the city of Yogyakarta, known for gamelan music and traditional puppetry. Aland Drone Flight: The Åland Islands, or Åland, is an autonomous region of Finland. Comprising around 6,700 islands, this Swedish-speaking archipelago is in the Baltic Sea. The capital, Mariehamn, on the main island of Fasta Åland, is known for its beaches and streets lined with 19th-century wooden townhouses, handicraft shops and cafes. Västerhamn, the towns western port, links Åland with Estonia, Sweden and mainland Finland. Västerhamn is home to the Åland Maritime Museum, with exhibits about the areas seafaring past, and the 4-masted sailing ship Pommern, which is moored beside the museum. Georgia Drone Flight: Georgia, a country at the intersection of Europe and Asia, is a former Soviet republic thats home to Caucasus Mountain villages and Black Sea beaches. Its famous for Vardzia, a sprawling cave monastery dating to the 12th century, and the ancient wine-growing region Kakheti. The capital, Tbilisi, is known for the diverse architecture and mazelike, cobblestone streets of its old town. Looming above Tbilisi is Narikala Castle, a reconstructed fortress founded in the 4th century and used during later Turkish and Persian occupations. The 11th-century Svetitskhoveli Cathedral is one of many notable Georgian Orthodox churches centered on the nearby town of Mtskheta. In the foothills of 5,033m-high Mount Kazbek lies the iconic, 14th-century Gergeti Trinity Church. Gergeti Glacier is a popular trekking destination farther up the mountains slopes. Saint Kittss Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park is a well-preserved colonial-era military fortress, with cannons pointed toward the Caribbean Sea. At Frigate Bay, on the islands Atlantic coast, lies a crescent beach thats a popular swimming spot. In the channel between Saint Kitts and Nevis, scuba divers explore Booby Island, with its numerous jackfish and snapper. Founded in 1630, its one of the oldest cities in the U.S. The key role it played in the American Revolution is highlighted on the Freedom Trail, a 2.5-mile walking route of historic sites that tells the story of the nations founding. One stop, former meeting house Faneuil Hall, is a popular marketplace. “Beantown” is home to Symphony Hall, where the legendary Boston Pops orchestra performs, and Fenway Park, where the beloved Red Sox baseball team plays. Famous cultural institutions include the Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Science and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, housing a world-class collection in a space designed like a 15th-century Venetian palazzo. Sweden Drone Flight: Malmö is a coastal city in southern Sweden. It lies at the eastern end of the striking Öresund Bridge, a long road and railway bridge–tunnel running to Copenhagen, Denmark. In the city center, Lilla Torg is a cobblestone square with cafes, half-timbered houses and shops selling local handicrafts. Malmö Castle, a 16th-century fortress built by King Christian III of Denmark, houses nature, history and art exhibits. The Malmö Konsthall, a cavernous, light-filled exhibition space, displays international contemporary art. More contemporary and modern works are on show at Moderna Museet Malmö, housed in a former 1901 electricity plant. To the west, Ribersborg Beach is popular for its Kallbadhus, an open-air public bathhouse with saltwater pools, plus saunas and a cafe. A coastal path winds around the Western Harbor neighborhood, home to architect Santiago Calatravas iconic twisted Turning Torso building. Svalbard and Jan Mayen Drone Flight: Longyearbyen is a small coal-mining town on Spitsbergen Island, in Norways Svalbard archipelago. This Arctic town is known for its views of the Northern Lights. The modern Svalbard Museum chronicles the regions natural and cultural history. It includes a stuffed polar bear. Live bears can occasionally be seen in the area. The North Pole Expeditions Museum recounts early efforts to reach the pole by air. Longyearbyen is on Adventfjorden Bay, which can be crossed by boat to reach Hiorthfjellet Mountains trails. Nearby, the Gruve 3 coal mine depicts Svalbards mining history. The underground Svalbard Global Seed Vault preserves backups of the worlds seeds in the name of food security. Husky-dog sleds and snowmobiles set off from Longyearbyen for trips farther afield to places like Isfjord Radio, a former transmission station with views overlooking the Arctic Ocean.
