About Gramado and Canela: Gramado is a small tourist city, southeast of Caxias do Sul and east of Nova Petrópolis in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, in the Serra Gaúcha region. The city was originally settled by Azorean descendants and later received a contingent of German and Italian immigrants. Gramado is one of the cities along the scenic route known as Rota Romântica (Romantic Route). Gramado was originally settled in 1875 by Portuguese immigrants. Five years later, the first German immigrants arrived and these were followed shortly after by Italian immigrants from the Italian settlements in Caxias do Sul. In 1913, the city seat was moved to Linha Nova, the location of the present-day city center. At this time, Gramado was an unincorporated city within the city of Taquara. A railway, brought by Gramados founder and first administrator, José Nicoletti Filho, arrived in the city in 1921, boosting the local economy. Gramado officially became a city in 1937, when Gramado was already known as a summer holiday resort. Gramado became a city on December 15, 1954 by force of State Act 2,522. // Canela, meaning Cinnamon (or shin) in Portuguese, is a town located in the Serra Gaúcha of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Both Canela and neighboring Gramado are important tourist locations and they both draw many visitors each year. Ecotourism is very popular in the area and there are many opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding and river rafting. // Gramado é um município do estado do Rio Grande do Sul, no Brasil. Localiza-se na Serra Gaúcha, mais precisamente na Região das Hortênsias, a uma latitude 29º 22 44 sul e a uma longitude 50º 52 26 oeste, estando a uma altitude de 830 metros. Sua população estimada em 2018 é de 35.875 habitantes. Possui uma área de 237,019 quilômetros quadrados. Seu principal acesso se dá através da RS-115, embora também seja atendida pelas rodovias RS-235 e RS-373. // Canela é um município brasileiro do estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Localiza-se na Serra Gaúcha, mais precisamente na Região das Hortênsias, e faz divisa com as cidades de Gramado, São Francisco de Paula, Caxias do Sul e Três Coroas. A cidade é conhecida por atrações turísticas como a Cascata do Caracol, o Parque da Ferradura e a Catedral de Pedra.
